Traill County’s Jim Murphy Named State’s Economic Developer of the Year

To Jim Murphy, working in economic development is a lot like building a puzzle.

“We’re constantly looking at the puzzle that changes every day and trying to come up with a good way to put that puzzle together,” said Murphy, executive director of the Traill County Economic Development Commission. “And in a lot of ways, that, I believe, is the work of the developers.”

Murphy was recently named state Economic Developer of the Year by the Economic Development Association of North Dakota. The award is presented to an individual “who has made a significant contribution that will leave a lasting impression on the economic health of their community, region or state.”
